Northern Virginia Pet Loss Support Group
Finding Comfort After the Loss of a Pet
Losing a beloved pet changes everything. The silence in the house feels louder. Their favorite spots feel painfully empty. And while friends and family may care, they don’t always understand the depth of the bond you’ve lost.
That’s why Fetch a Cure and I gather once a month for Fetch a Cure’s Northern Virginia Pet Loss Support Group, a safe space where you can share, listen, and simply be with others who “get it.” There’s no judgment, no pressure, just a circle of people who know the heartbreak of saying goodbye to a furry (or feathered or scaly) family member.
We meet on the third Monday of every month from 7–8 pm at Woofies of Ashburn. These gatherings are open to anyone grieving the loss of a pet, recent or long ago, and all family members are welcome.
My work in pet loss support comes from a deeply personal place. I created Letters to Lance after losing my own soul dog, Lance, to help normalize conversations around pet grief. I’m a member of the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement, have trained as a pet loss grief specialist, and completed the Companion Animal End-of-Life Doula program through the University of Vermont. Our goal is simple: to hold space for you and your grief in a way that’s compassionate and understanding.

You don’t have to go through this alone. We’re here to listen, to share, and to remember together.
