Soul Dog Journey Project: Week 2-Favorite Toy
What was your dog’s favorite toy and why?
When Lance first came to us, he didn’t really play with toys. He would pick up items like shoes and underwear, but not toys. When Lance first came to our home, he would not go up the stairs. We tried coaxing him with treats and encouragement, but it was a no go.
I got out the air mattress to spend the night with him on the first floor of our townhouse to spend the night with Lance. I laid down on the mattress to go to sleep and a little while later, a sandal was dropped onto my head! It was at that moment I knew we were in for an adventure with Lance.
Lili is the toy lover in our family. Lili loves to grab a toy when we go downstairs for a walk and when we buy her a toy from a store, she will prance with the toy in her mouth until we get to the car. She especially loves hedgehogs and has her own special Hedgy.
Lance learned from Lili to take toys downstairs with him when we went out. After a few days of Lance and Lili dragging toys downstairs with them, we have quite the collection.
But while Lance wasn’t attached to a particular toy, he loved to play tug. But the only time he liked to play tug is when we come home from being outside. That was his routine. He came home and started barking his big bark until we told him to get a toy to play tug. It didn’t matter if it was a tug toy or a regular toy, or the size, he would play with it. And he was great at catching toys too, when he was in the mood. Otherwise, you ended up looking like a jerk because you tossed a toy at your dog, only for it to hit him.
A boy and his toy.
How about your dog, what was their favorite toy to play with?
